Call To Arms

                It’s time to wake up.

As I sit writing this, our nation is suffering through the worst crisis period in its history. It shows no sign of recovery; and without immediate action, we will never pull through. The first thought that probably entered your mind, reader, was that of our debt problem, or the “fiscal cliff”. And with our nation $17 trillion dollars in debt (approximately 1.2 times the GDP, and over three times the annual federal revenue), it is no problem to be taken lightly. You can walk into any bank in this nation and look at their repossession records. That’s what happens when you can’t pay your debt. And as a nation, we can’t pay our debt. One of these days, our “banker” is going to walk up tell us that our note has been called and the party’s over.

But I’m talking about something that goes deeper. Something that my grandfather and great-grandfather fought for. Something that millions of Americans have laid down their lives for.

                Our freedoms.

I don’t believe there is a single sane person in this country that believes that America is in a good spot. It’s failing. And we all know that, no matter how much the men in Washington try to sugar-coat the truth. I’m not taking sides or picking partisan fights here. We must take off our rose-colored glasses and see the situation for what it is. It’s failing. And when America fails, the last light on earth goes out. We are last chance for freedom in the world. When we go, freedom dies.

Our Founders didn’t intend for freedom to die.

They gave everything, even their very lives, for freedom; for the defense of America. They gave everything, even their very lives, to ensure that America would live on for the future, and serve as a beacon to those who died not have the blessing of freedom.

And they did not intend for America to fail.

In our mindless greed and our worry over the small issues of government, we have left the Constitution and its principles of freedom and individual liberty. We have become caught up with saving the trees and saving the ice caps, and we are blind to the power-hungry bureaucrats stealing away the freedoms given us by the Constitution, one by one. Our Constitution, the rock built to keep in check tyranny and despotism, is nothing but an afterthought in the minds of our elected rulers – merely a dusty old piece of paper from a bygone era, no more. A piece of paper that has no relevance on the issues of today.

Americans, nothing could be farther from the truth! The Constitution, although beaten and abused through the last hundred years, is still a living and breathing law; the law of our land! It is by no means perfect (though I will let history speak for itself as to whether there has ever been a better), but it is ours, and the successes of our glory days bear enough testimony that it works when kept.

As American citizens, every one of us has the solemn obligation to defend the Constitution against all enemies. Even when those enemies are our countrymen. There are no exceptions.

But today, most Americans have not read the Constitution, nor do they have the slightest idea about what it contains. They cannot defend the Constitution, because they don’t even know what they would be fighting for. And so our Constitution is being dismantled, piece by piece. When it is gone, so is America.

As Americans, we cannot let this happen. We are neither soldiers nor legislatures; our job is far more important. We must teach Americans about the glory of America. It is time for the Constitution to rise again, and we must be the ones who carry it back to its place of power. Everyone one of us has influence in the circle of people around us, we must teach them. Teach them the Constitution, teach them of those who threaten it, and teach them of freedom, and all the Americans before us who laid down their lives so that we could enjoy the blessing of liberty.

Every day, our freedoms are being stripped from us. We cannot give another inch. This moment – right here, right now – is where we must plant our feet say, “No more!!!” This is where we must stop the onrushing waves of tyrannical government; we must turn the tide now. To delay is to allow despotism to overrun our nation. This is the call to battle, the summoning to war. It is time for us to take the banner of liberty, to take the torch that has been passed down from generation to generation since it was lit by those courageous men on July 4, 1776. We cannot suffer it to go out. It is time to take our stand. It is time for us to take back our nation. This is the call to arms.

                Will you answer?

“If a nation expects to be ignorant and free, in a state of civilization, it expects what never was and never will be. The functionaries of every government have propensities to command at will the liberty and property of their constituents. There is no safe deposit for these but with the people themselves; nor can they be safe with them without information.” ~Thomas Jefferson.

“From year to year be careful in the choice of your representatives and the higher powers of government. Fix your eyes upon men of good understanding and known honesty; men of knowledge, improved by experience; men who fear God and hate covetousness; who love truth and righteousness, and sincerely wish for the public welfare…. Let not men openly irreligious and immoral become your legislators.” ~Samuel Langdon

Both incredible true quotes. Someday I wish someone would compile a book of all the great quotes from the Founders. But I doubt they would fit into a single volume.
